Eating Disorder Therapy in Brisbane

Because food shouldn't feel like a full-time job.

You might be constantly thinking about what you’ve eaten, how much you weigh, or how to “fix” your body. Maybe you follow rigid rules about food and feel intense guilt or shame when you break them. Or you might be stuck in a cycle of bingeing, restricting, or purging that feels exhausting and isolating.

If you're here, you're probably tired of the struggle. There’s a common myth that you have to be severely underweight, have a formal diagnosis, or hit some dramatic “rock bottom” before you qualify for support. That’s not true, and it’s not helpful. If food, body image, or eating behaviours are taking up more space in your mind than you’d like, therapy can help.

Here’s the thing: you don’t have to earn your meals. Or overthink them. Or explain your relationship with bread to anyone. Eating disorder therapy is about untangling all the food/body noise in your brain so you can get back to living your actual life, not just the one that revolves around calories, rules, or the scale.

Common Eating Disorder Presentations I Work With

  • Anorexia or restrictive eating

  • Bulimia and binge-purge cycles

  • Binge eating disorder

  • ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder)

  • Chronic dieting and disordered eating

  • Exercise compulsion

  • Body dysmorphia or body dissatisfaction

  • Recovery after inpatient/day programs

  • “Subclinical” eating issues that are still deeply distressing

Whether you're early in your eating struggles, have lived with them for years, or are somewhere in the messy middle of recovery, you are welcome here.

For Neurodivergent Clients

Many of my clients are autistic who feel frustrated that typical eating disorder treatment never really “fit.” You might:

  • Eat in repetitive or rigid ways to feel safe

  • Struggle with limited food variety due to sensory issues

  • Forget to eat or hyperfocus until your body crashes

  • Have been told your eating issues aren't “real” because your experience is nontraditional

You are absolutely valid. Your needs might be different, and therapy should reflect that.

How Therapy Can Help

  • Understand the function behind your eating behaviours

  • Let go of food rules that no longer serve you

  • Feel less guilty around food (and rest, and pleasure, and having a body)

  • Cope with emotions without relying on food or control

  • Reduce binge/restrict cycles

  • Feel more connected to your values and your life

 FAQs

  • Not at all. Many people struggle in ways that don’t fit a textbook definition. If food or body image is taking up too much mental space, therapy may help.

  • That’s okay. Many clients feel ambivalent. We can explore what recovery means for you, in a way that respects your autonomy and honours your lived experience.

  • Yes. Whether this is your first time in therapy or your fifth, we’ll work together to build insight, flexibility, and self-compassion in a way that fits who you are now.
