About Me
Rose Martinovic (she/her)
BPsychSc(Hons), MPsych(Clin)
I’m a clinical psychologist based in Brisbane, and I work with adults who are looking for therapy that goes beyond surface-level conversations. I see clients for a wide range of concerns including OCD, trauma, autism, cult involvement, and identity exploration. I particularly enjoy working with people who think deeply and feel a lot, even if they don’t always know how to express it yet.
My role is to be curious, collaborative, and challenging. I value honesty and emotional depth, and I encourage clients to show up as their full selves (including the messy, uncertain, or stuck parts). I use evidence-based therapies to help people develop practical strategies they can apply in their everyday lives. Therapy isn’t just about talking; it’s about doing. I support clients to build insight and make behavioural changes between sessions, because that’s where real, sustainable progress happens.
I believe therapy should be a space where you can reflect, explore, laugh, cry, question things, and start to move forward. In our sessions, we might explore what’s keeping you stuck, look at patterns that no longer serve you, experiment with new behaviours, or sit with feelings you’ve been avoiding. I’ll support you to make sense of things while also nudging you toward action and change.
Areas of Interest
Post-traumatic stress disorder and complex trauma - I provide support for individuals recovering from single-incident trauma, childhood abuse or neglect, emotional invalidation, and chronic relational trauma.
Working with the LGBTQIA+ community (including transgender or gender diverse individuals) - I provide affirming therapy for people exploring gender, sexuality, and queer identity, as well as those processing discrimination, internalised shame, or navigating relationships within the queer community. You won’t need to educate me on the basics here. I’m already on your side.
Obsessive compulsive disorder - I offer evidence-based treatment for OCD including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), as well as support for related challenges like perfectionism, intrusive thoughts, and mental rituals.
Cult involvement - I support individuals recovering from cults, religious trauma, or controlling interpersonal or family environments. This work often includes rebuilding trust in your own mind, learning to set boundaries, and developing a sense of self outside systems of control.
Borderline personality disorder - I offer therapy that is grounded in compassion, consistency, and emotional validation. Many clients I support have been misunderstood or stigmatised in previous settings. I believe BPD is best understood in the context of past experiences and unmet attachment needs, not as a flaw or defect.
Autism spectrum disorder - I work from a neurodiversity-affirming lens, supporting autistic adults in navigating a world not built with their needs in mind. Therapy might involve processing burnout, masking, late diagnosis, or identity development. I do not aim to make you more “normal”. I aim to help you feel more understood.
Burnout - I support individuals experiencing burnout related to work, caregiving, activism, or ongoing emotional labour.
Eating disorders and poor body image (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and obesity) - I work with individuals experiencing binge eating, restriction, body shame, and complex relationships with food and exercise.
Sex workers - I offer a non-judgmental, affirming space for sex workers to explore mental health, identity, trauma, boundaries, or anything else that matters to them. My approach is sex work positive, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive. You won’t need to educate me or defend your work here.
THERAPY__
Philosophy
I bring a socially aware lens to therapy. This means I take into account the broader systems that shape people’s lives (whether that’s gender roles, cultural expectations, trauma, or oppression), and I aim to make therapy an affirming space for all identities.
I work from an inclusive, LGBTQIA+ affirming and neurodiversity affirming framework. I especially welcome autistic adults, queer and trans clients, and those recovering from experiences in rigid or high-control environments (such as cults, religious trauma, or perfectionistic family systems).
I use a range of evidence-based therapies depending on your needs. While insight and reflection are important, meaningful change also requires action. I work with clients to develop practical strategies that they can take into their everyday lives. Therapy isn’t just about what happens in the room, it’s about helping you live differently between sessions too.
If you’re looking for a psychologist in Brisbane who is warm, emotionally attuned, and not afraid to challenge you when needed, we might work well together. I want therapy to feel useful. Not just comforting, but meaningful and transformative.
I believe that people are inherently capable of growth and healing, and I’m here to help you reconnect with that capacity.
