Telehealth
Online Therapy for Adults
Evidence-based therapy, wherever you are
You don’t need to be sitting in a therapy office for therapy to work.
You can be in your living room or at your kitchen table. In a quiet room with the door closed and a cup of tea going cold beside you. Therapy is about the work we do together, not the furniture.
I offer secure, confidential telehealth sessions for adults across Australia. Whether you're in Melbourne, regional Victoria, interstate, or somewhere that doesn’t have many psychologists available, you can access support without the commute, parking, or waiting rooms.
Telehealth can be especially useful if you:
Have a busy schedule or irregular work hours
Live regionally or interstate
Are neurodivergent and find travel or sensory environments draining
Experience social or medical anxiety
Have mobility or health concerns
Are navigating burnout and have very limited capacity
It removes a surprising number of barriers. And when you're already overwhelmed, reducing friction becomes very important.
Does Online Therapy Actually Work?
Yes. And not in a “it’s better than nothing” way.
Decades of research show that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy for concerns such as:
Trauma and PTSD
OCD (including exposure based treatment)
Anxiety and depression
Burnout and chronic stress
Navigating sexuality and gender identity
What determines outcomes in therapy isn’t the physical room; it’s the quality of the therapeutic relationship, the structure of the work, and your willingness to engage with change between sessions. None of that disappears when we’re on a screen.
In fact, many clients find they:
Feel more relaxed in their own environment
Open up more easily from home
Appreciate the convenience and flexibility
Are more consistent with attendance
The depth, accountability, and progress are still there. It’s not a “lite version” of therapy. It’s the same work, just delivered through a screen.
“But I prefer in person…”
That’s completely understandable. For some people, being in the same physical space feels grounding.
What I’ve noticed, though, is that many clients who were initially hesitant about online sessions adjust quickly, and often tell me they’re surprised by how natural it feels. Others discover they actually prefer it.
You don’t have to commit long-term to know whether it suits you. We can try it and see how it feels.
FAQs
-
Yes. Research consistently shows that telehealth therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy for concerns such as trauma, OCD, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and burnout. The strength of the therapeutic relationship and the structure of the work matter far more than the physical setting. The depth, challenge, and progress remain the same.
-
Very little.
A stable internet connection
A reasonably private space
A device with a camera (laptop, tablet, or phone)
Headphones if privacy is a concern
You don’t need perfect lighting or a polished background.
-
This is more common than you might think. Some options include:
Using headphones
Playing white noise outside the door
Sitting in a parked car
Scheduling sessions at quieter times
Using a private room at work
We can problem-solve together. You don’t need ideal conditions to start.
-
Technology occasionally misbehaves. If the connection drops, we simply reconnect or shift to phone temporarily. It’s not disruptive to the work, just mildly inconvenient.
-
Yes. Trauma processing, exposure work for OCD, behavioural interventions for eating disorders, and structured therapy approaches all translate well to telehealth. In some cases, it’s even helpful to work in your real-world environment, where triggers and routines actually occur.
Online does not mean less structured or less active.
-
No. If you can click a link, you can access telehealth. The platform is straightforward, and I’ll guide you if needed.
-
That’s completely normal at first. Most people adjust within the first session or two. Once we’re engaged in the conversation, the “camera awareness” tends to fade into the background.
You don’t have to perform or present yourself in any particular way.
-
Yes. I provide online therapy to adults across Australia. This makes telehealth especially helpful for regional clients or those seeking specialised support not available locally.
